It is Rosh Hashanah, and Elie has lost his faith. As the other prisoners hold services he silently thinks to himself, why would i praise him he is allowing these evil acts to take place. He is not fasting since he didn't have enough food anyways in the camp. Slowly as the selections continue and the jews live longer in the camps they all follow in Elie's loss of faith.
This chapter was an exhibit about how the Nazi party affected the sound beliefs of people that they tortured during the holocaust. They had lost all of their humanly possesions, but that was not enough the german had to take away their beliefs which was all they had left. It showed the pschological attack that the Holocaust had on the jews along with the physical effect.

great colin. I enkoyed the details and specific exapmles from the story.
kindve short and it didnt explain to much of the chapter but it was a good insight i do agree that the nazi has to do a lot to mess with the jews faith
That was a really good post. You got the chapter perfectly.
Good job colin. I liked the detail but it could be a little longer. I agree that the holocaust had severe psychological effects on the jews.
